EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW - Idan Cohen on Creating Demi Lovato’s Custom After-Party Dress

When pop icon Demi Lovato celebrated her wedding with a star-studded weekend in Santa Barbara, she turned to couture designer Idan Cohen to craft a look that would dazzle for the after-party. Known for his hand-beaded bridal and eveningwear, Cohen brought his signature glamour to the moment. Here, he shares the story behind the design.

Q: How did this collaboration with Demi Lovato come to life?

Idan Cohen:

We were approached by Demi’s stylist team a few months ahead of the wedding. I’ve admired Demi for years—her strength, style, and authenticity—so the opportunity to design for such a personal moment was incredibly special. We aligned instantly on the vision: something custom, high-fashion, and unforgettable.

Q: What was the creative direction for the dress?

Idan Cohen:

Demi wanted the after-party look to Compliment the ceremony—something playful, sexy, but still elegant. SO I created a sculpted mini dress. It was structured, bold, and designed to move with her on the dance floor.

Q: What was the design process like working with Demi and her team?

Idan Cohen:

Very collaborative! Demi had a clear sense of what she wanted. We shared mood boards, did several fittings, and refined the beading layout down to the last sparkle. Every stitch was done by hand in our atelier. We finished it just in time for the celebration—it was truly couture.

Q: What did this moment mean for you personally?

Idan Cohen:

It was surreal. I grew up in Israel watching Demi perform—her music was part of my teenage years. To now be part of her wedding story felt like a dream realized. At House of IDAN, we design for women who embrace who they are, and Demi embodies that completely.
