PART 3: GET THE GLOW: SIX DAYS OUT

In the final installment of our three-part “Get the Glow” video series, the emphasis is on staying calm, cool and collected. Is that easy to do when it’s less than a week before what is undoubtedly the most momentous occasion of your entire life? Of course not! Still, there’s lots you can do to keep a lid on last-minute jitters.

The Big-Day Idea: Om. Deep breath. Now’s the time to revel in all your hard work of the last six months. You’ve set the stage for a radiant complexion, and you’re about to be on the receiving end of an avalanche of compliments. Get ready to step into the spotlight.

Six Days Out: Skin Steps to Take

  • Depuff with cryotherapy tools: There are umpteen reasons why our faces get puffy, including allergies, a reaction to Rx and over the counter drugs, too much salt and...sorry to be a buzzkill...excess booze. To counteract it, tap into the cryotherapy trend and invest in a pair of ice globes. Once used only in spas, these frosty numbers are ideal for getting in and around eyes. If you already own a quartz or jade face roller, you can also stick it in the fridge or freezer for a bit to help you literally chill out.

  • Switch to a satin pillowcase: Great for both eliminating “sleep wrinkles” and frizz-prevention, satin and silk pillowcases also feel great against your face, which can go a long way in helping you drift off. And as you’re already aware, sleep is *the* biggest universal beautifier for your skin.

Six Days Out: Wellness Steps to Take

  • Swap-out the champagne and margaritas for water and green juice: As hard as it might be, resist the urge to overindulge in the week leading up to your wedding. Not only does alcohol dehydrate the skin, making fine lines that much more evident, it also disrupts your beauty sleep. You don’t want that. Which leads us to the next tip...

  • Up-level your sleep mask: Happily we’re living in an era in which virtually everything is optimized, and that includes sleep masks. Some of the latest and greatest work to address wrinkles and promote relaxation (i.e., the brilliant collabo between CurrentBody and London-based wrinkle expert Dr. Steve Harris, linked below), and / or allow you to slip a crystal into a secret pocket located just above the third eye chakra (Baloo Living, also linked below). Yes, these next gen sleep masks cost a bit more, but they’re so worth it. And hello, you’re getting hitched, remember? Time to pull out all the stops.

  • Try a calming supplement: Magnesium and CBD are superstars on the night-time supplement front, and they’re available in powdered drink, pill and gummy form and lots of tasty flavors. If you can, skip the chemicals and go for something more natural – like the options below - to help you fall and stay asleep. You’ll feel a lot less groggy and out of it in the morning.

  • Resist the urge to crash diet: While you might be tempted to try to lose “just a few more pounds” right before the wedding, don’t One, your dress might not fit, and you definitely don’t want to run that risk. And two, hangry brides aren’t beautiful. You’ve worked so hard – cross the finish line happy and glowing.
