10 Questions with Lihi Hod

1) Where did you study fashion and who did you work for after that?
I studied at "Shenkar", the leading fashion design college in Israel, and one of the leading in the world. My internship was at Elie Tahari NYC. After graduating “Shenkar” I moved to Paris, starting work at Dior, alongside fashion designer John Galliano.

2) Where is Lihi Hod based?
“Lihi Hod” studio is based in Tel-Aviv Israel.

3) How did you get into designing wedding dresses?
With the opportunity to join a leading Israeli fashion company I returned home to Tel-Aviv. However, and like in a fairytale, my best friend asked me to design her wedding gown, and a month later, my second best friend also asked a wedding gown… and the rest is history.

4) What is the overall aesthetic of your brand?
My philosophy created a rich, visual and exclusive language, full of details and nuances, reflecting quality and prestige.
The design combination creates sought-after and unique wedding dresses, combining timeless elegance inspired by the past with the contemporary, chic and nonchalant attitude of the present.
A team of top-quality professionals was carefully chosen to create exquisite dresses, made of luxurious materials, meticulously handcrafted.Each dress is tailor-made, making each bride's dream into an exciting reality, down to the smallest detail.  

5) Describe the Collection line.
Every Year I create 2 collections, presented in NYC Bridal Market to bridal boutiques located globally  
a. Lihi Hod Signature Couture line : The finest fabrics, Hand-Made High-quality, luxurious gowns, reflecting the brand values and philosophy
b. Dreams: HandMade High quality gowns for the trendy-chic bride who's looking to be the most trendy bride around.
c.  Both lines are hand-made in our studio and 80%(!) of the fabrics are costume made and designed especially for us.

6) Tell me about the shapewear that is incorporated in the designs.
Our gowns are very feminine, hugging the body. The structure of the dress is very soft. 

7) Describe the new collection called Dreams.
The new Dreams collection was born in order to bring something fresh, sexy and trendy to our clients, with a more affordable price point.  

8) What are the fabrications for the Dreams line?
The fabrics of the Dreams line are the highest quality of Triple crepe, French lace and silk Taft, combined with silk tulle.

9) Where do you get your inspirations?
My inspiration comes from the real brides that I meet every day in my Attalier. They bring something fresh, clean and sexy. I also love fabric and the joy of the endless search after the most inspiring and unique fabrics can be found. That said, one the most important things for me which always makes me feel thankful for my work, is to see the relationships between brides and their moms.

10) What do you love best about what you do?
I love my work and I’m feeling lucky every day, as if it was my first day and my first gown I designed.
