The High School of Fashion Industries  Offers a Bridal Design Program

THE High School of Fashion Industries (HSFI), a NEW YORK city school with students from all FIVE boroughs of Manhattan, offerS a bridal design program for juniors…Most likely the only program of its kind in the country.

The industry partnership program was conceived with Lifestyle Commentator and Board member of THE High School of Fashion industries Robert Di Mauro and Mara Urshel, President of Kleinfeld bridal. The competition starts with Kleinfeld hosting a master class on trends at the store. Next the students design their mood boards.  Expert Judges from the bridal industry come in to select 5 sketches. The students are divided into 5 teams to help the winner of the sketch produce and present their design.  Next step,  Madeline Gardner of MoriLee hosts her master class for the students on producing the garments as well as donating the fabrics for their designs.

In DECEMBER, the five students and their teams formally presentED their work at Kleinfeld in front of a panel of judges from the Fashion and Bridal industrY, including some of our bridal council members.

The Bridal Council is proud to offer a SCHOLARSHIP to SUPPORT THE HSFI Bridal Design PrograM. We encourage members of the bridal community to offer internships to the HSFI students.
